Kansas City Chiefs Confirm Alleged Abuse Allegations Connected to Player Rashee Rice
The NFL franchise issued a statement on Wednesday evening indicating they are aware of domestic violence allegations circulated in social media posts by a ex-partner of wide receiver the athlete and were in communication with the NFL.
The organization did not mention Rice specifically in their announcement and noted they would have “no further comment at this time”.
Claims Shared on Social Media
Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name the athlete by name, shared a series of photos on Instagram that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. She did say the individual in question was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has kids with Rice, whom the Chiefs selected in the second round.
Official Complaints Reportedly Not on File
No police reports were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have occurred.
Rice's Recent Off-Field Troubles
The receiver missed the initial part of this season due to an NFL suspension for his role in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that resulted in multiple people hurt. He was sentenced 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to felony charges.
On the field, Rice finished the season with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City finished with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a decade.
